Ofer Wellisch, MD                                    Evidence-Based Pain Management Approaches

This presentation on pain management will be delivered by Dr. Ofer Wellisch, Director of Pain Management, Stamford Health, and Assistant Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology, Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. The Pain Management Program at Stamford Health was established approximately eight years ago, and is one of only two comprehensive pain management centers in Connecticut.

Dr. Wellisch began his career in pain medicine at The Stanford University School of Medicine in Palo Alto, CA. Following his training, he continued to serve as teaching faculty while conducting research at Stanford. Dr. Wellisch takes pride in educating and mentoring his medical students, residents, and fellows. He also conducted research in molecular neuroscience as well as on the “patient experience.” He has published numerous articles and medical reviews and has been invited to serve as guest reviewer for various medical specialty journals.

After returning home to the East Coast with his wife and three children, Dr. Wellisch has set out to establish a state-of-the-art multidisciplinary pain center at Stamford Health to serve our community and beyond. Dr. Wellisch has been recognized as “Top Doctor,” and has previously led a pain management program to #1 ranking by Castle Connolly.
